GEELONG is spearheading a new statewide push for regional investment, with a local business hub already attracting a $12 million pipeline of potential growth.<\/p>\n

The Geelong Business Launchpad, based at Federal Mills, has officially opened as a pilot program designed to connect local startups and international investors with government support.<\/p>\n

Since its soft launch two months ago, the hub has generated significant interest from businesses looking to move into the region or expand their existing footprints.<\/p>\n

Operated by the Geelong Chamber of Commerce in partnership with Regional Development Victoria, the program offers free co-working spaces and a platform for public-private collaboration.<\/p>\n

Lara MP Ella George said the concept was “proudly created in Geelong”, while regional development minister Jaclyn Symes said the pilot aims to proactively drive domestic and international investment.<\/p>\n

“The regional launching pads are about driving growth and innovation across our regions, while creating stronger partnerships between the public and private sectors that will benefit our communities for years to come,” Symes said.<\/p>\n

“Our teams are ready to support ideas from design to delivery and to help position regional Victoria as the place to do business.”<\/p>\n

It is one of six regional launching pads currently rolling out across Victoria, including sites in Ballarat and Bendigo.<\/p>\n

Geelong Chamber chief executive Jeremy Crawford said the program is a vital catalyst for local businesses looking beyond Australian borders.<\/p>\n

“Geelong’s global brand is growing rapidly,” he said.<\/p>\n

“The Geelong Business Launchpad is the ideal pilot program to provide business services, connections, business development support, import and export advice, and locally-focused programs.<\/p>\n

“We continue to proactively champion our region on the global stage through outreach, expanding networks and connections, and seeking the best opportunities to showcase Geelong.<\/p>\n

“Global interest is high and programs like these will ensure there is a catalyst to capitalise on opportunity.”<\/p>\n

The program is specifically targeting high-growth sectors, including advanced manufacturing, defence, health technology and the circular economy.<\/p>\n

To be eligible, applicants must have active operations in regional Victoria or be an investor looking for opportunities in these key areas.<\/p>\n
