he said.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">&#8220;That is what happens when good people gather, they share an entrepreneurial spirit and they&#8217;re prepared to build something new.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Australia sent about $882 million in exports to Saudi Arabia in 2025 and the direct freight corridor is expected to create more opportunities for exporters seeking faster access to Saudi Arabia and the broader Gulf region.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Suss said Saudi Arabia relied on up to 90 per cent of its food being imported, which presented huge opportunities for Australian exporters.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">&#8220;This is a real coup not just for Avalon but also for Victoria,&#8221; he said.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_192473\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-192473\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" wp-image-192473\" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2026\/07\/IMG_5664-1024x683.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"400\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-192473\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Avalon Airport chief executive Ari Suss said the new Saudi Arabia freight corridor will help transform the airport into a major international trade gateway.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Australia Saudi Logistics Alliance representative Sam Jamsheedi said almost 60 per cent of Australian exports to Middle Eastern markets eventually ended up in Saudi Arabia.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">He said the Iran war had caused longer transit times, higher prices and sea freight disruptions, prompting exporters to increasingly look to air freight.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">&#8220;What this represents to the Australian exporting community and businesses is a fresh new opening,&#8221;
