City of Ballarat, Central, Duncan Smith
Central Ward
Duncan Smith
Occupation: Retired
Resides: Alfredton
How long have you lived in your council?
Over 50 years.
Community involvement: I have played sport and been involved in sport my whole life. As well as starting and running a small travel agency in Ballarat employing Ballarat people.
Associated with a political party or movement?: No.
Preferencing: No one.
Campaign budget? Receiving financial support?: Zero and no.
Three most important issues in your ward?:
Firstly the continual waste of money on projects such as $600,000 for five cricket nets in Mount Clear and $10 million for a 2.5-kilometre bike path in Sebastopol and the massive blow out of the Bridge Mall just to name a few.
Secondly the waste of money. I hate people that waste public money. It is not their money to waste. If it was their own money I would absolutely bet that there would be no waste. People can do whatever they want with their own money, but the City Council has wasted maybe $250 million over the last 20 years. That has to stop.
