CITY OF BALLARAT

Wendouree Ward

Kristen Justin

Occupation:

I have previously worked as a Secondary School Science and Maths Teacher in Ballarat, but I now work at Triple Zero Victoria as a Team Leader in the Ambulance area.

Resides:

Wendouree Ward.

How long have you lived in your council?:

I have lived in Ballarat for 10 years.

Community involvement:

I have been interested in community service since my high school days. My passion for my local community and its liveability for people at every stage of life has sparked my desire to nominate.

Associated with a political party or movement?:

I have no affiliations with any political party. I have nominated as an independent candidate. I believe community sentiment is wanting more independence on council.

Preferencing:

I will not be preferencing either of the other candidates who have nominated for my ward as they are both affiliated with major political parties.

Campaign budget? Receiving financial support?:

I have received no funds from anybody to finance my campaign. It has been entirely self funded.

Three most important issues in your ward?:

Community spaces… I am committed to doing all I can to ensure Ballarat is a wonderful place to live.

If elected, I would be a strong advocate for Commonwealth and State funding for local services and facilities, particularly in our new growth areas, to support people and their families in these areas, and ultimately build a strong and socially cohesive Ballarat. This is just one example of the significant role local government, and councillors have.

I believe a strong council is diverse in age, gender and skills, to ensure it can effectively represent the diverse needs of our community.
