Working on literacy.

MEREDITH Primary School strives to live up to the motto of ‘Achieving Together’ by creating an environment that is supportive and safe for students and families.

The school’s four values of Respect, Resilience, Pride and Excellence drive the expectations within the school and the school community.

All children are valued and given a range of experiences that will empower them to become life-long learners, maximising and celebrating individual and collective achievement.

Meredith Primary School provides children with an innovative learning environment and a caring, nurturing approach to student wellbeing. The 2025 school enrolment is 69 students divided into four classrooms.

The school has a learning environment where students are encouraged to work co-operatively and collaboratively with others. Educational practices are evidence based and aim to engage each child in a culturally rich, challenging and contemporary curriculum. The school strives to be inclusive, welcoming and supportive of all children’s learning.

Meredith Primary School maintains a commitment to a two-hour daily Literacy block and a one-hour daily Maths block consistently across Foundation to Year 6.

The dedicated three hours is to ensure that the school maintains a focus on Literacy and Numeracy outcomes for all students. Students are provided access to a wide range of Information and Communication Technologies including iPads and Netbook computers. Our specialist subjects include science, visual and performing arts, physical education and Auslan.

Our rural school has excellent facilities and students take an active role in maintaining various areas within the school grounds such as our wicking garden beds, chicken run and veggie gardens. Our school grounds include a Yarning Circle which is significantly important to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.

The school runs a variety of extra-curricular activities including an intensive swimming and gymnastics program in Term 4 and a variety of other excursions throughout the year. Our students attend year-level camping and sports programs from Grade 3-Grade 6 with other small schools in our district.

Our camping program is preceded with a Grade 2 sleep over at school and our School Captains also attend a leadership conference and dedicated leadership camp with School Captains from other primary schools.

Our Grade 3-6 students participate in district sport, including an Athletics Carnival, Cross Country and a Winter Sports program.

The school also offers a School Council run, Out of School Hours Care Program including Before and After School Care, Curriculum Day care and an occasional School Holiday Program.

Community engagement is strongly encouraged including involvement at ANZAC Day services, Senior Citizens and visiting Emergency Services.

Parents are welcomed and encouraged to participate in school activities where appropriate and to become partners with teachers in developing positive educational outcomes for the children.
