How Ballarat Grammar nurtures the whole child

As students progress into Middle and Senior School, they engage with a diverse academic program alongside extensive co-curricular opportunities.
From early years to year 12, the school provides an environment rich in opportunity. Every student is encouraged to discover their unique strengths and develop the confidence to pursue their goals.
In the Centre for Early Education (CEEd), learning is grounded in curiosity and connection. The bush kinder program fosters a deep appreciation for nature, encouraging children to explore, take safe risks, and learn through play.

The junior school’s International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme (IB PYP) builds on this foundation, inspiring inquiry and reflection across a broad curriculum. Into middle and senior school, students engage with a diverse academic program alongside extensive co-curricular opportunities. These experiences cultivate creativity, critical thinking and personal growth. A key feature of the senior school is The Academy – Sound and Performance, introduced in 2024 to meet growing interest in the creative and performing arts. The program provides hands-on experiences in music production, theatre and live performance. Students can record and release original music, collaborate with professionals, and explore pathways into the creative industries. The Academy supports the development of technical skills and artistic identity.

Outdoor education also plays a vital role in student development. From Prep through to Year 12, students are encouraged to step beyond the classroom and connect with the natural world. Through carefully designed experiences, they build resilience, teamwork, and a sense of personal responsibility.
The Mount Rowan Farm Campus provides real-world learning in sustainability, animal care and agriculture. At the heart of Ballarat Grammar is a strong sense of community. The School’s House system promotes belonging and connection across year levels, while wellbeing programs, grounded in Positive Psychology, give students the tools to flourish.
Service learning is woven throughout the educational journey, nurturing empathy and a commitment to making a difference.
