THE official launch of Mosaic of Voices: the short film will be held at Ballarat Library on Thursday 25 September.

The interview-based film is the culmination of several months work by producer Diana Paez, a Colombian filmmaker based in Ballarat.

“The short film documentary is filled with stories previously not heard,” said Centre for Multicultural Youth (CMY) Ballarat team leader Shiree Pilkington.

“The young people featured spoke openly about belonging, what’s important to them, strong role models and who inspires them.

“It’s raw and honest.

“It’s a collective portrait of youth in Ballarat.”

The film was created as part of the Living Stories project, a CMY Ballarat initiative with funding from the Federal Government’s Regional Arts Fund.

“Many of our youth face barriers in their lives and the film celebrates their wonderful achievements despite these barriers,” said Ms Pilkington.

“They are all kicking goals.”

The launch will include performances by some of the young people featured in the film.

“They are very talented musicians and singers,” said Ms Pilkington.

The launch will take place on Thursday 25 September from 5.30pm to 6.30pm at Ballarat Library, 128 Doveton Street North.

Registrations are essential as there is limited seating capacity. RSVP by 22 September for catering purposes.
