A presentation of Pyrenees art
THE annual Pyrenees Art Exhibition returns to Beaufort’s town hall over the King’s Birthday Long Weekend, showcasing a variety of works.
“They’ll either be in oil, watercolor, or mixed media,” said exhibition committee member Jocelyn Oddie.
She said the art exhibition was a staple for the region, and a second-hand book sale and a photography show are also part of the event.
“It’s something enjoyable,” she said.
“Then we have the bit of photography and the second-hand book sale as well. So, we link in and make it a nice long weekend in Beaufort, and it brings people to the town.”
The exhibition allows artists of all types from the region to display, Oddie said.
“We’re an art show to start off with if you’re new to the art world,” she said. “And a lot of people keep putting their artwork in again and again.”
Oddie said entrants could be a beginner or an experienced artist that has been painting for years.
“Anybody can enter and put their wonderful art in,” she said.
She said the photography complemented the exhibition well. “It’s still a form of artwork, it’s just a different technique.”
The exhibition will start tonight with the official opening from 7.30pm, where works will be selected as the best in their respective categories. Entry to opening night is $25.
It will then open on Saturday 6 and Sunday 7 June from 10am to 5pm, and Monday 8 June from 10am to 2pm. Entry for those days is $10 and includes Devonshire tea.
