ACU & Royal South Street partner forperforming arts participation
The ACU Debating Challenge Cup in partnership also with Central Highlands Water will be held from the 22 July to the 13 August, and the ACU Speech and Drama Competition will be held from 20 – 23 August, both at Connors Hall on ACU’s Ballarat Campus.
Primary and secondary schools from throughout the region participate in debating and speech and drama, with many students starting at primary level and becoming competent, articulate speakers and performers in their senior years of secondary school.
ACU, Ballarat Campus Dean, Professor Bridget Aitchison shared, “Our longstanding partnership with RSSS for the ACU Debating Challenge Cup has now been extended to the Speech & Drama Competition.
“The skills these students develop through these competitions will stand them in good stead for their futures.
“We understand the importance of creativity and the central role the Arts plays in developing critical thinking skills and are proud to support these competitions.”
Royal South Street Society Business Manager, Judy-Ann Quilliam shared, “This important
community partnership reiterates the value of the performing arts in developing important skills needed for young people to thrive in their creative interests as well as study and life.”
The Royal South Street Society Ballarat Eisteddfod commences next month for a season of events from June to October including the disciplines of dance, calisthenics, speech and drama, debating, instrumental bands and solos,
choral, all abilities performing arts, vocal, pianoforte, Celebrating Chopin and the Herald Sun Aria.
