FROM now until late October, the Lake Wendouree Museum is housing a varied assortment of artworks courtesy of the Ballarat Society of Artists.

The collection comprises about 40 pieces from 16 of the group’s members as part of their Eclectic Views exhibition.

BSA assistant secretary Sue Clarke said the show’s title refers to the range of mediums, subjects, and locations on display.

“One of our artists suggested the title because of the wide variety of artwork,” she said.

“It’s quite eclectic as far as the types of art, there’s printmaking, acrylic, watercolours and a variety of buildings and themes.

“There’s a few different topics from birds to flowers to landscapes, and quite a few images of buildings and place around Ballarat.

“Amanda Western has one of Craig’s Royal Hotel. There’s one of Reid’s Guest House from Cathryn O’Connor. It’s nice to see these buildings.”

The show marks the third year in a row BSA members have exhibited at the museum and the partnership has been mutually beneficial.

“Last Sunday was our first day and 85 people came in. It’s been a great opportunity for some of our newer members who haven’t exhibited with us before,” Clarke said.

“It’s also opened the doors to the [Golden City Paddle Steamer and Museum Society] and been a fantastic arrangement…for the museum because so many people probably don’t know it’s there.”

The exhibition can be viewed from 10am to 3pm on Sundays. Artworks and cards are available for attendees to purchase.

A portion of commissions will go towards the museum’s management, the Golden City Paddle Steamer and Museum Society. The museum is located at 27 Wendouree Parade.
