APPRECIATING what often goes unnoticed in the natural environment is the theme of the newest exhibition on display at ArtHouse at RACV Goldfields Resort.

The Studio is Everywhere exhibition features work by acclaimed Melbourne-based botanical artist, contemporary oil painter and educator Jessie Rose Ford.

The showcase highlights Ford’s dual artistic practice of meticulous botanical illustrations that capture intricate natural details, alongside her more recent plein air paintings, characterised by gestural expression and emotional depth.

From nasturtiums to banksias, her observations aim to bring the outdoors inside, forming a meaningful connection between artist, plant and viewer.

Through her art, Ford seeks to bring people closer to the natural environment and ultimately celebrate the innate connection we all have with the natural world.

An educator, Ford conducts botanical art workshops across Melbourne, nationally and online.

Her credentials include the prestigious Celia Rosser Medal for Botanical Art and highly commended acknowledgements at various Royal Botanic Gardens Melbourne exhibitions.

Ford’s work has been showcased in exhibitions throughout Australia, and she has participated in international residencies.

The exhibition features over 30 works spanning Ford’s career, providing insight into her evolving relationship with botanical subjects and landscape.

RACV head of visual arts Mardi Nowak said Ford’s work exemplifies its commitment to showcasing artists who deepen our connection to the natural world.

“Her ability to move between meticulous botanical detail and expressive plein air painting creates a dynamic exhibition that resonates with our spectacular Goldfields setting,” Ms Nowak said.

“Now is a great time to check out the exhibition yourself.”

Jessie Rose Ford: The Studio is Everywhere exhibition is open until 17 August at RACV’s ArtHouse in Creswick. Admission is free.
