FREE and low-cost school holiday sessions for children are underway at Djila-tjarriu and Lucas community hubs.

Today, Friday 17 January, and Monday 20 January, a free ‘crafternoon’ will be on at Lucas Community Hub where parents and carers are invited to support children in creating.

Mind Body Circus offers a workshop with juggling, acro balance and hula hooping on Wednesday 22 January. All equipment is provided and tickets cost $5.

On Thursday 23 January Coco Sounds will be singing songs from around the world, encouraging children to play rhythms with their body.

City of Ballarat director of community wellbeing Matt Wilson said it is important to provide budget-friendly entertainment for the region’s children.

“These are the first summer holiday programs to be held at the community hubs, following on from the success of our existing holidays programs also being held at our library branches,” he said.

“There are more than 20,000 children in Ballarat, so providing budget-friendly entertainment during the summer school holiday period is fundamental for families helping their children grow.

“We expect the programs to be very popular and we encourage families to book before they miss out.”
