Butler headed to Bendigo on PRISM tour
JOHN Butler is headed to Bendigo next month as part of his new Australian PRISM tour.
The release on 5 September of Butler’s deeply personal new studio album of the same name will also mark the first date the independent artist begins the national run of shows with special guest Emma Donovan.
“I am really looking forward to touring Aus again with the band for the PRISM album launch,” Butler said, speaking from the US where he has been touring northern states.
“I’m loving playing with Ian Peres, Michael Boase and reuniting with Michael Barker on the drums.
“We’ve been having such a great time bringing these new songs to life on stage and the older songs are sounding better than ever.”
Presented by Double J and Jarrah Records, the tour will begin in Bunbury and include shows in Bendigo (12 September) and Ballarat (13 September), before finishing in Townsville on 5 October.

ARIA-nominated, award-winning singer and songwriter Donovan’s new solo album Til My Song Is Done is out now.
PRISM marks a formal departure from the John Butler Trio moniker. Butler said it’s an album that’s contemplative and explosive, joyous and free, funk-filled, cinematic and unapologetic. Singles Trippin On You and So Sorry are out now.
PRISM follows album of meditations Running River and instrumental record Still Searching.
Aside from solo shows last year to support those albums, Butler hasn’t toured Australia with a band since 2019 and said he enjoys regional audiences.
Butler is widely celebrated for epic guitar instrumentals and pedal board wizardry, and the Australian tour follows the extensive two-month North American summer tour, with Dispatch, Donavon Frankenreiter, G. Love & Special Sauce and Illiterate Light, including shows in Nashville, Red Rocks, New York City’s Rooftop at Pier 17, Ravinia and more.
In Bendigo, Butler will be performing at the Ulumbarra Theatre. Tickets are on sale through johnbutlertrio.com.
