Club for social yarning
A NEW space is being provided for crafters, crocheters, and knitters to have a social catchup while weaving their latest projects.
Following its establishment at Daylesford, a second Stitch and Yarn Craft Social Group is set to be established at Creswick through Hepburn Shire’s Libraries program.
The group will launch on Friday 31 May and will entail free weekly get-togethers at Creswick Hub every Friday from 10am to 11.30am.
Hepburn Shire’s executive manager for people and transformation Brooke Holmes said a second group will be a welcome addition for the region.
“We are excited to bring Stitch and Yarn Craft Club to our Creswick Hub. If you have a craft project that you can bring to the Creswick Hub, we’d love to see you,” she said. “It’s open to people of all ages. If you are working on, or want to start, a craft project come along. Whether you knit, crochet, sew or have another crafty hobby, please join us.
“We already host a weekly Stitch and Yarn Craft Club at Daylesford Library every Wednesday at 10am.
“It has been incredibly popular and we are sure the people of Creswick and surrounds will also enjoy a get-together and be creative with fellow crafters.”
The new group follows on from the Daylesford-based club established in May last year, which Ms Holmes said has been a successful initiative worthy of duplicating.
“It has been a great avenue [for crafters] to expand their social network,” she said.
“They also share knowledge, tips, and tricks when a member is having difficulty with a particular project, another member of the group will assist.
“There are regularly 12 or [more] participants. Their general focus is knitting and crocheting. They complete projects they are working on at home.”
Creswick Hub is located at 68 Albert Street.
