THE Y Ballarat’s 2025 Youth Art Exhibition will open tonight in Barkly Square’s atrium gallery.
A celebration of young local creatives, the showcase features work by people aged 12 to 25.
Pieces range from photography, paintings and drawings, to ceramic and textile works.

“The evening will include light refreshments, live music from Surfe, a Welcome to Country, brief speeches, and the announcement of the Y’s Choice Award and the Artists’ Choice Award, each carrying a $100 prize,” said coordinator Lilia Haughie.
“Fifty artists and 70 artworks are featured in the exhibition, and a young person has supported us to curate the layout. Artists are able to sell their artworks.
“There’s a range of ages and skills featured.”
Y Ballarat’s 2025 Youth Art Exhibition opens tonight, Friday 19 September, with an event from 5.30pm to 7pm. Attendees can vote in a People’s Choice section.

“The People’s Choice Award, also valued at $100, will be voted on by the public and announced at the conclusion of the exhibition on 5th October,” Ms Haughie said.
Barkly Square is at 25 to 39 Barkly Street, Ballarat East.
