Find joy in journalling
Artist Tegan Crosbie will be sharing the art of junk journalling this month as part of Ballarat Winter Festival.
Crosbie will host two creative sessions suitable for experienced or new journal makers.
Attendees will be supplied with vintage papers, textured fabrics, wintry ephemera, and embellishments, and learn techniques to layer, decorate and personalise journal pages.
“I’ve been busy collecting lots of winter collage materials such as winter themed stickers, picture book that have winter themed stories and characters in them, and I have lots of choice of colours like pale blues,” Crosbie said.
Crosbie said junk journaling is a great way to reflect and display memories.
“I really enjoy them because they are a form of memory collecting and I like to collect different bits and pieces from my life.
“I used to store them in a box but turning them into something you can take with you and flick through and recollect is really nice.
“For people who may not have journaled before, it’s kind of like a little visit into some childhood nostalgia.”
Crosbie encouraged the community to get involved in the festival and embrace the cold.
“As a Ballarat local, I was born here and lived here most of my life, I very much understand the bitter cold of a Ballarat winter,” she said.
“I think it’s really nice tot embrace that and don’t let the cold hold you back.”
The sessions will be held at the Workshoppery at Barkly Square on Sunday,July 6 and Thursday, July, 10.
