MEMBERS of the Creswick community are preparing to open their gates and invite the public into their gardens as part of the Garden Lovers Weekend.

The event, organised by Creswick Garden Club, is back for its ninth year on Saturday 9 November and Sunday 10 November.

Nine gardens, ranging in size, location and purpose will be open to the public with entry priced at $6 a garden.

This includes the gardens of Shannon’s Bridge end of life care and John Curtin Aged Care.

“There’s a lot of variety there for people to enjoy and also some of the gardens have different ideas and little resting places which appeal to gardeners because gardeners are always looking for ideas,” said Creswick Garden Club committee member Margaret Giles.

“Most of them are a cottage style although we have a couple of quirky gardens that are different.”

All profits go towards local projects, with $2000 from last year’s event donated to the Magic Pudding Playground at Creswick.

“It has been languishing for fourteen years and had stage one on it, but nothing had happened,” said Ms Giles.

“A small group of Creswick people have started working to invigorate the playground.”

The projects supported this year will be decided after the event.

Tickets can be purchased on the Creswick Garden Club website or in person on the day at the Creswick Neighbourhood Centre Hall.

The club’s flower and craft show will also be on the same weekend at the Hall with a plant sale and raffle.
