FAN favourite comedian Geraldine Hickey will perform her latest production – Meander – at Her Majesty’s Theatre in August, with Welsh expat Lloyd Langford in tow.

Hickey, who first came to prominence in 2001 by finishing second in that year’s national RAW Comedy final, has since appeared on popular TV programs including I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here and Have You Been Paying Attention?, and won Most Outstanding Show at the 2021 Melbourne International Comedy Festival.

She said the idea for Meander emerged simply due to the fact that she likes walking.

“At the time I’d just done a walking marathon and I really liked the opportunity to get out and go for these training walks,” she said.

“So the show’s about the benefits of being out in nature and how much I (enjoy) it.

“It’s a feel good show, there’s nothing profound about it, it’s (just) a show where I take the audience on a lovely meander.”

She encouraged locals to come along and have “a night out and a night in at the same time”.

“That’s what this is,” she said. “That’s what going to see a comedy show can give you.

“You (can) go to the movies, that’s two hours or more, but this is one hour and it’s live.

“Being able to see live comedy is so much different to what you see on TV.

“You get to have this shared experience with other people and you get to go home early if you want.”

Geraldine Hickey – Meander (with Lloyd Langford) takes place on Friday 22 August at Her Majesty’s Theatre.
