AFFORDABLE family fun is on offer this spring at the Clunes Agricultural Show, with free entry for children.

Taking place on Saturday 16 November, the show will feature Stewart Bryant’s whip cracking show as a headline act on the main arena at noon and 3pm.

Mr Bryant recently returned from the winter season at the Longreach Hall of Fame.

Also stopping by will be chainsaw wood sculptor Dean Smith, known as the Dancing Bear, local solo performer Troy Elliott, and the Western Wolves-Ballarat medieval combat team.

“They’re different so it’s little bits of something different that everyone can enjoy,” said Jenny Redpath, president of the Clunes and District Agricultural Society.

Animals will also be a highlight, with the Big Ones, Tall Ones, Small Ones and Really Tiny and Slimy Fun Pet Show at 1pm, Wicked Wildlife, pony rides, ferret racing and dog high jump.

There will also be a giant sandpit, carnival rides, face painting, puppets and showbags, as well as traditional displays like the homecraft pavilion.

Local artist Troy Elliott will be performing.

Ms Redpath encouraged the community to come along, as most of the entertainment and activities are free.

“We now run the show that the kids are free so it’s just the adults that pay to come in and just about everything is free,” she said.

“Country shows bring people that have left the town back, because it is a tradition to bring the family to the show.

“I think it’s extremely important because you have your generations of families that attend or enter the show.”

Entries to the show close Tuesday 5 November.

More information about the event can be found on the Clunes Agricultural Show website.
