IN a Wicked-mad world, BLOC Music Theatre is entering rehearsals for their June production of The Wizard of Oz.

The show’s casting team has followed the yellow brick road to find their Dorothy, with Izzy Farrah stepping into the ruby slippers.

Farrah will perform with BLOC for the first time in this musical, but has been on stage in 25 productions including Heathers the Musical, The Brothers Grimm Spectaculathon, and Oliver!

“I am so incredibly excited and eager to step into those ruby slippers and bring Dorothy to life with all her determination, kindness, generosity, and boldness while also honouring the incredible performance of Judy Garland in this role,” she said.

BLOC’s The Wizard of Oz will be directed by Gareth Grainger.

BLOC’s cast and crew including Izzy Farrah can’t wait to bring a show back to Her Majesty’s Theatre following its redevelopment.

“Izzy shows experience well beyond her years and brings a calm sensitivity to the role of Dorothy, accompanied by a sweet, powerful, yet perfectly controlled vocal performance,” he said.

“Her Over the Rainbow will bring a glisten to your eye.”

Also in the cast of more than 50 locals are Charlie McGinniss as Scarecrow, Rob Muirhead as Tin Man, Marcus Hovey as Cowardly Lion, Jessica Wilkinson as Aunty Em and Glinda, Rachel Angee as The Wicked Witch of the West, and some BLOC Juniors as Munchkins.

Sarah Barlow will direct the music, Muirhead is also choral director, and Beth Gay and Renee Irwin are choreographers.
