MAGICIAN, illusionist and escape artist Cosentino is heading on tour to celebrate 10 years of entertainment.

He will kick of his Decennium – The Greatest Hits regional tour at Her Majesty’s Theatre on Tuesday, January 14.

The show is a 90-minute spectacular written, produced, and choreographed by Cosentino featuring escapes, illusions and street magic. “It’s a world-class show that’s in your backyard,” he said.

“The show is so much more powerful when you come in person because when you come up on stage and I seemingly read your mind or your spouse’s mind, you go ‘Hang on it’s not set up.’

“All of a sudden you’re immersed in it now and it’s like a sporting event.”

Cosentino, who rose to fame on Australia’s Got Talent, is the first Australian magician to have his own television shows.

His nine prime-time specials have been broadcast in more than 40 countries.

“You go through different transitions in your career, for example 15 years prior to Australia’s Got Talent was this grind, struggle, and putting up posters in shopping centres,” Cosentino said.

“Then hopefully you break through like I did, and you see a huge amount of success and it happens quickly.

“Then it slows down again, and you have to find your space and your feet… it’s an interesting game and I’m very, very proud that I’ve been able to stay in it for over 10 years.”

Cosentino first began touring in regional areas in the early 2000s, and said he was grateful for the support from smaller communities.

“I have a bit of a soft spot because I learnt my craft by doing these regional tours and the audiences back then were so appreciative,” he said.

“The audience reaction is what keeps you going it more than anything, and regional audiences are honestly the best audiences.”
