Music returns to Buninyong church
THIS Saturday the Chamber of Music will be returning to Buninyong Uniting Church.
The event will feature Victorian gospel band Dancing with the Angels as well as Lisa Cressey and Darren Holland in local act With this Ring.
For the first time, there will be a guitar workshop before the performances.
Entry is by gold coin entry from 1pm where Tony O’Rourke from Dancing with Angels will guide players through playing three to four songs.
O’Rourke will discuss bass runs, G runs, selecting a key, and some basic guitar advice.
“What he’s going to bring to the workshop is all the skills he puts into his performance,” said Holland.
“They are going to benefit any guitarist and possibly some ukulele people as well who want to uprate their presentation skills and pick up some tips and tricks on how to make the instrument sound that little bit better.”
The Chamber of Music will run from 4pm until 6pm and tickets cost $20.
With this Ring will play a variety of songs about the highs and lows of relationships.
Then, members of Dancing with the Angels will play music from both the Bluegrass Gospel and secular bluegrass traditions.
“We’ll warm people up a bit to the very interactive performance that Dancing with the Angels will deliver,” said Mr Holland.
“That’s one of their signature things, they like people to sing along so there will be a hand out with all the words.”
Holland said the event is about more than music.
“It’s really important when we’ve got this community venue, and yes it’s a Unitng Church, but it’s effectively a community asset,” he said.
“This is a great way to activate that venue, bring people in and use it for stuff that’s not about the Uniting Church but is supported by the Uniting Church.”
