AUSTRALIAN country music artist Penny Burke has released a deeply personal song inspired by a trip from Victoria to Queensland to reconnect with family.

Ballarat to Cloncurry is part of her upcoming album Always Be There.

“I am originally from Cloncurry and the song reflects the experiences of many Australians who travel vast distances for the people they love,” said Burke.

“The song tells the story of travelling from Ballarat back to Cloncurry in North West Queensland following a life-changing event, reconnecting with family, friends and home.

“It’s a very Australian story about distance, resilience, family and the pull of where we come from, something many Australians can relate to.

“The music video was filmed in and around Ballarat, featuring several local locations and celebrating the beauty and character of regional Victoria.”

Burke began singing at just 12 years of age.

“In 2004, I released my debut EP Local Pub, produced by acclaimed musician and producer Stuie French at Swingin’ Doors Studio in Sydney.” she said.

“After some time away from recording, I felt a strong pull to return to songwriting and share the stories that had been quietly building over the years.

“My album marks a deeply personal chapter in my musical journey with several of the songs inspired by my fiance Graeme.

“His unwavering support has been instrumental in bringing this project to life.”

Burke has performed at festivals and venues across Australia including Tamworth, Alice Springs, Mount Gambier, Port Pirie and many regional communities.

Her achievements include: Telstra Road to Tamworth Finalist; ANZ Singer/Songwriter of the Year; Semi-finalist – Tamworth Songwriters Association and Inaugural SA Country Artist of the Year.

New singles will roll out throughout 2026 and the full album Always Be There is set for release in December.
