THE City of Ballarat has partnered with arts organisation Punctum to provide a regional live arts and contemporary performance residency program.
Seedpod residencies will help artists create new performances that celebrate Ballarat and this year’s creatives are Izzy Roberts-Orr and Gemma Cavoli.
At the end of their residency, the artists share their work and mayor Cr Tracey Hargreaves said the program is another example of the City of Ballarat supporting local creatives.
“Ballarat continues to thrive as a hub for creative talent, and programs like Seedpod give our local artists the space to experiment, connect and shine,” she said.
“We’re proud to support Izzy and Gemma as they develop bold new works that reflect the depth and diversity of our region.”
This year’s partner venues are the Ballaarat Mechanics’ Institute and Ballarat Performing Arts Community”s Neill Street Hall.
Roberts-Orr’s Medusa is a Modern Woman was performed last week and reimagined Medusa as a contemporary figure.
Oubliette by Cavoli will be performed today, Friday 9 May and tomorrow, Saturday 10 May, revealing hidden stories and silenced voices.
