Nightjar Festival looks to the future
FROM humble beginnings as a stage on the back of a trailer to something extraordinary, Nightjar is returning to the Surf Coast for its 15th year on January 3 and 10.
Nightjar has continued to evolve since its first instalment in 2009, facing its fair share of challenges and growing to attract more than 55,000 attendees to each Surf Coast session.
Just weeks before the launch of a new event in Werribee, COVID arrived, shutting the doors and forcing the office to close, however the team never stopped dreaming about bringing Nightjar back to life.
As it returns for a milestone 15th year, they couldn’t be more excited to celebrate community, music, creativity and connection, everything the event represents.
This year’s event will include some new additions to the entertainment with the inclusion of a Big Top to help manage unpredictable weather and provide more space.
Ticket holders can also enjoy free yoga and breathwork sessions each morning from January 4 to 8 under the Big Top.
Meaningful conversations will take place, talking about menopause with Surf Coast Women’s Health and discussions with the Shaka Project about men’s well-being.
This year’s event will also include the launch of the Big Thrift Market, featuring stalls, buskers and food trucks, being held on January 9 from 2pm until 8:30pm.
Organisers are excited about what the future holds for Torquay and are working harder than ever to deliver amazing, community-focused events supporting local businesses, creating ongoing enjoyment and driving economic impact in the region.
Independent festivals are facing tough times and those who enjoy these types of events are encouraged to buy their tickets to help see them continue.
These types of events thrive on the enthusiasm and support of the community purchasing tickets and spreading the word help shape its future and contribute to ongoing success.
