Ross Wilson and the Peaceniks will perform at Her Majesty’s Theatre on Friday, June 27.
“People keep booking us, so we keep going,” said Wilson.
“We’ve travelled all over Victoria, then extended into New South Wales where we sold out and now, we’re coming back to Victoria where it all began.
“We also toured in Tassie; Hobart, Launceston and Burnie.
“The extension will bring the tour to over 150 performances, many of them in regional theatres.”
This year marks 60 years since his first Melbourne hit single Louie Louie with his first band The Pink Finks.
Wilson has 26 ARIA Top 40 hits to his credit as a singer, songwriter and producer, including Daddy Cool and Mondo Rock favourites.
He has twice been inducted into the ARIA Hall of Fame.
A personal and crowd favourite song is Eagle Rock.
“We leave it until the end, and it always gets everybody up and grooving, with encores and standing ovations,” Wilson said.
“It’s not just the older audience members, the younger crowd who weren’t even born when it came out, love it, too.
“I guess it’s been passed down in their DNA.”
Wilson said he will take a six-week break from the middle of August through September to visit his wife’s family in Greece but will be back performing in spring and summer.
“I can’t imagine retiring,” he said. “I’ll probably keep going until I drop off the perch.”
