School bands to play in extravaganza

Bands from Ballarat High School, Mount Clear College and Phoenix P-12 Community College will be on stage.
THE musical talent available in Ballarat will again be showcased when some of the local school bands come together to participate in the annual School Bands Extravaganza.
The night is organised by the Lions Club of Sebastopol and District and the night gives the bands the opportunity to come together to meet with other musical minded students and to display their musical talents to a wider audience.
The night also gives the club the opportunity to raise funds for the Ballarat Regional Integrated Cancer Centre.
Club spokesman Ron Thomas said the night is not a competition in any way and the aim is to give the students a chance to showcase their musical skills and to raise some money for the cancer centre.
The night is a ‘win-win’ situation both for the schools, who showcase their musicians, and the Lions Club, who raise funds for a good cause.
Starting at 7pm and running for about two hours, the night will not be a late night and that gives families with young children the chance to attend.
The school bands participating this year are from Ballarat High School, Mount Clear College and Phoenix P-12 Community College.
The night is set for Wednesday 6 August. The venue is the Gay Gough Auditorium, Mount Clear College, Olympic Avenue.
Cost is $5 for adults and a gold coin donation for children under 15 years of age.
