A LA Mama Connect session coming up next week is an opportunity for local creatives to network, bounce ideas and forge links that can make great art happen.
The event will run from 6pm to 8pm on Thursday 18 September at the Ballarat Performing Arts Centre (BPAC) in Neill Street, Soldiers Hill.
It’s free to attend, although registrations are required for the session that aims to help creatives from Ballarat and surrounding areas connect with each other and with Melbourne’s La Mama Theatre.
As part of La Mama’s year of review, the longstanding Melbourne theatrical institution is hitting the road to discover how it might best work with regional artists and audiences.
The session in Ballarat is being supported by Regional Arts Victoria and is part of La Mama’s wider Connect outreach program that’s touring to various regional centres.
“We are delighted to be hosting this session at BPAC, alongside Regional Arts Victoria, and of course La Mama, as this event is part of their regional Connect series,” BPAC’s Beth Lamont said.
“It’s an exciting time for the performing arts in Ballarat.
“The aim is to build a strong and supportive network within the artistic community and create a nurturing environment for collaboration and growth.
“It is an opportunity to connect with other theatre artists and arts advocates interested in supporting local creatives, as well as scoping opportunities for regional and metro exchange.
“Whether you’re just starting out or a seasoned creative, your voice matters.”
Participants in the Connect session will have the opportunity to provide their own opinions and preferences around what they “would find most useful from La Mama in terms of pathways, networking, community building and professional development”.
Bookings can be made through the BPAC website. Visit lamama.com.au/la-mama-pathways/la-mama-connect-2025 or the BPAC Facebook page for more information.
