THE interplay between visual art and the written word will soon be blended together as part of a group exhibition at TBH Studio.

Running from next month, the gallery and retail space’s upcoming WHAT DO YOU HAVE TO SAY? show will see the region’s creative community come together to present text-based artworks.

“It’s looking at works similar to Barbara Kruger Tremin,” said TBH Studio co-founder and the show’s curator Toni Louise.

“I love to do text in my work so I really wanted to see what other people have to say and how they can use text to enhance the visuals.”

Kim Magee’s The Door To Opportunity, a photographic print.

Works from all three TBH Studio founders will feature in the show which has so far seen close to a dozen submitters.

The exhibition’s theme has been interpreted through the medium of photographs, paintings, collage, and a video with spoken word poem.

Each submitter can present up to two works.

With entries open until 25 January, Louise said she expects to see more works submitted in the coming weeks.

Cam Letman’s acrylic on canvas work Face The Future will also feature in the show.

“I hope that people see through this exhibition that art can be anything and that text is incredibly powerful within art,” she said.

“As human beings, we have a lot to say, and you can say that directly into your artwork.”

WHAT DO YOU HAVE TO SAY? will open on Sat 1 February from 2pm to 4pm after which the show will run until Friday 28 February.

Entries can be submitted with a $10 fee at forms.gle/7dwuDRAipgKSJhGe6.
