IT’S time for the cast of BLOC Music Theatre’s production of 9 to 5 The Musical to clock on for work.

The ensemble of 26 performers will kick off their 12-show season at Civic Hall this Thursday 4 July.Director Brad MacDonald said while the show is a “fun, absurd, and exhilarating” romp through the 1970s with bright colours and high-energy musical numbers, it speaks to people of all backgrounds.

“The struggles of working women, its themes of empowerment, friendship, and overcoming adversity are relevant to everyone, no matter their background, age, or gender,” he said.

“It’s a celebration of resilience and standing up for what’s right. It shows us that life has its ups and downs, but no matter what obstacles are in your path, A better day is on the way.

Karly Hogan as Kathy and Victoria Rosewarne as Charlotte.

“From the daily grind of the office, to exciting choreography and dream sequences that transport us into the imagination of our protagonists, every aspect of our production is designed to help tell these inspiring characters stories and progress their journeys throughout the show.”

Rachel Angee is performing the role of Roz Keith who plays opposite Gareth Grainger’s controlling Franklin Hart Jnr. “I’m known for playing nice roles, but I get to play a baddy for once,” Grainger said.
