A new baby market is coming to town
THE first ever, Ballarat Baby and Children’s Market, is set to take place early next year.
Already running an established baby market down in Geelong, organiser Emily Brew said she and her partner decided to expand and set up in Ballarat.
“I purchased Geelong about two years ago and it had already been running for 12 years but we decided to ramp it up, do a heap of advertising and we have about 70 or 80 stalls there now,” she said.
“We get a lot of businesses coming down from Ballarat and they are always asking to set up one in Ballarat because there used to be a baby market down here.
“We wanted to do a similar concept, but just a little bit smaller to start off because we don’t yet have the customer base.”
The market, which is projected to take place on Saturday, 27 February 2021 at Doug Dean Reserve Delacombe will consist of half business and half pre-loved stalls.
For those who run a small children’s business or have an influx of pre-loved baby clothes they’re hoping to sell, Ms Brew said they are still welcoming applications for stallholder positions.
“We’re going to have 45 stalls and there’s always room to expand in the future once people know more about us,” she said.
“It’s not a first in best dressed, otherwise it would be all the same things, we want it to be different and not be 10 hair bow people.
“We want to have a bit of variety so we do pick and choose a little bit to get a real mixture of people who make clothing, accessories, dummy chains and a whole bunch of other things.”
Similar to the Geelong baby market set up, the organisers are planning to have ATM facilities on site as well as a selection of food truck vans.
