A summer’s afternoon of support

INVERMAY Progress Association is inviting people to spend a late summer’s afternoon socialising outdoors, in support of the local CFA.

At Wightwick Winery this Sunday, 3 March between 12.30 and 5pm, the public is welcome to come along with a chair to enjoy gourmet sausages, gelati, boutique beer, coffee and, of course, Wightwick’s wine.

There will be live music from The All Ordinaries and The Harmonies.

Pam Toom, vice president of the Invermay Progress Association said the atmosphere at the event is always convivial.

“The food is good and the music encourages folk to get up and dance,” she said. “During the afternoon there is an auction of wines and other goodies, and a quiz testing your musical knowledge.”

IPA hope the event will be a great fundraiser for Invermay CFA which is pursuing extra equipment to enhance their firefighting capabilities.

“Invermay CFA attends many fires each summer, locally and in the wider Victorian community,” Mrs Toom said.

“Our 2018 event saw our CFA volunteers quietly slip away, with the truck, to attend the fire at the intersection of the Western Freeway and Midland Highway.”

The event is in its third year and has raised approximately $12,000 to date.

“With views west to the Pyrenees, south across the city of Ballarat and north to Creswick State Forest, Wightwick…is the ideal place to spend a summer’s afternoon with your friends,” Mrs Toom said.
