A NEW small business is aiming to make psychological treatment affordable for everyone.

Davey Morrison launched his own clothing line, Morro Mental Health, last week, to fundraise in support of the mental health sector.

He is directing 10 per cent of every sale to subsidise psychologists’ appointments, so people in need can easily access treatment.

Mr Morrison was inspired to develop the small enterprise having faced his own mental health challenges, and he knew he wasn’t the only one.

“I had the idea about a year ago,” he said. “I was struggling, and I saw my friends and family struggle, and we weren’t able to afford to see someone about it.

“Once a month I donate all funds raised. Funding like this, so people can see a psychologist, is essential. There’s that many people that don’t see someone just because they can’t afford to.

“Morro Mental Health is also a way for me to spread awareness of mental health.”

Barkly Square hosted an official launch morning for Morro Mental Health last week where Mr Morrison introduced his project to the community, sold some clothes, and spread the word about his online store.

“I’m selling hoodies, jackets, long sleeve and short sleeve tops, beanies, caps and bucket hats,” he said.

“I’ve done the designs, and Hip Pocket Workwear and Safety make them for me. I’ve chosen really calming colours that I hope will be appealing to a lot of people.

“I’m mainly based online, but I’m going to take a stall around to as many places as I can. The response at the launch was great, and there were a lot more people than I was expecting.”
