STUDENTS at St Brendan’s Primary School in Dunnstown have begun training for the annual Mountain of Fun Run.

On Sunday, 1 March, walkers and runners will head around Mount Warrenheip alongside the entire cohort of St Brendan’s pupils.

The race, which is now in its 12th year, is the major fundraising event for the primary school.

Acting principal Shelley Ryan said the students are very excited to join in on the community fun run.

“It’s a fantastic experience for the kids to get fit and active, while also participating in an event that really benefits our school,” she said.

Contestants can tackle a 12.5km race up and down Mount Warrenheip or join the St Brendan’s kids in a 6km track around Dunnstown.

Race ambassador Tash Fraser said she has been coaching the kids for two weeks and has prepared the racers for the course.

“We work on a few things, like staying as a team and how to be relaxed while running,” she said. “We work on things to make the race more enjoyable and fun for everyone.”

Bibs can be collected from 6.30am, with roads closed from 8.00am onwards. The 12.5km race begins at 8.15am and the 6km race starts at 8.30am.

Registrations for the 6km course are $25 and $35 for the 12.5km.
