SIT, chat, and create at Ballarat Society of Artists’ latest social space.

Their Art at the Framers evenings run once a month at Accent Framing, and business secretary Sue Clarke said anyone is welcome to attend the free events,

“We enjoy being part of community activities. We thought there was a need for artists to get together, especially if they work during the day,” she said.

“It is just for a couple of hours, and so far, around eight people have been coming.  We have met a few times now, and it has been popular.

“People don’t have to be members to attend. They just need to make contact to indicate their interest.”

Workshops are also facilitated throughout the year by the society, with creatives Trudy Nicholson, Brian Lawrence, and Jon Lam offering their skills, techniques, and practices to other artists so far in 2022.

“We are fortunate to have many talented members willing to share their expertise,” Clarke said.

The society’s working relationship with the Lake Wendouree Museum continues, with a new exhibition opening on Saturday, 5 November called Explore – A View of Ballarat and Regions.

GLIMPSES, that looks at the lake and surrounds, continues there until 30 October

“It has been a fantastic arrangement, and we thank Don Holmes and Bob Wuestewald from the Museum for the opportunity,” Clarke said.

“So many locals don’t know the museum exists, and with over 400 visitors, that has been wonderful.”
