THE City of Ballarat’s Community Art Pathways program is again set to provide Ballarat’s artists with new and diverse places to show their work.

Currently there are three pathways involved including Backspace Gallery, Art Space Ballarat and Unicorn Lane with the latter two now open for applications.

The initiatives are not only open for visual artists with the organisers calling out for music, performance, spoken word, dance and a variety of other forms which may suit the space and fill the selection criteria.

Art Space Ballarat is the first of the two that are current taking submissions and is located at the front of the Ballarat Mining Exchange on Lydiard Street North.

This foot traffic heavy position is appropriate for all kinds of emerging art from visual to the performing arts.

Submissions for this space are always open with successful applicants given the opportunity to curate, install, promote and supervise the space themselves for the duration of their exhibition.

The second free art space is Unicorn Lane which is located just off Sturt Street and previously housed work from the Random Co-Lab program.

Ideal for emerging visual artists and makers of small works, the space offers nine light boxes of various dimensions for artists to showcase their work.

With applications for this spot open all year, for successful submissions by emerging artists Ballarat Arts & Culture can also provide some financial assistance of up to $300 to produce new works.
