FOR the second year in a row, Loreto College Ballarat recently took out the Ballarat Associated Schools (BAS) Cooking Competition.

Tilly Kavanagh, Bethany Toose, Paige Euvrard and Bella Ottini competed against a team of four from St Patrick’s College.

Local chef Damian Jones of Mr Jones restaurant and Andrew Wisken of the Australian Culinary Federation judged the competition.

The students were challenged to showcase their culinary creativity, technical skills, and teamwork under pressure.

The Loreto team served saffron and prawn pappardelle pasta with zucchini for the main course, followed by a dessert of date, dark chocolate, and almond torte, complemented by vanilla ice cream and a berry coulis.

Loreto College food technology teacher Thea Mooney accompanied the students and said she was impressed with their composure throughout the event.

“I am so proud of the way our students conducted themselves. They are a credit to our school and community,” she said.

Loreto College director of marketing and development Kellie Rudlin said the school was proud of the team’s achievement.

“We congratulate Tilly, Bethany, Paige, and Bella on their well-deserved success and thank the event organisers, judges, and partner schools for supporting this valuable opportunity for our students,” she said.
