Bag a book bargain
TOMORROW InterClub will be celebrating Book Week by providing children with a chance to win five hundred dollars for their school library.
All books at the event, which is supported by Wayne Compton from That Little Bookshop, will cost three dollars and there will be local authors on site.
Children are invited to dress us their favourite book character for a chance to win $500 for their school library.
InterClub coordinator Margie Iafrate said it is important to foster a love of reading among children.
“It sets them up for life, broadens their outlook and it also creates diversity of opinion,” she said.
“The more enlightened people are the better.”
Ms Iafrate said the event fits with InterClub’s charter of social inclusion and community participation.
“It goes with out charter of being involved with the community and giving back to the community,” she said.
“I love books personally and I think it’s a wonderful thing to support, encouraging people to read.”
Mr Compton has supported several InterClub Bookfests and Ms Iafrate said it’s great to work with him.
“We have a wonderful partnership with Wayne and we support him exclusively,” she said.
InterClub’s Bookfest will be on Saturday 17 August from 10am until 4pm and Sunday 18 August from 10am until 2pm at 320 Pleasant Street South.
