JUMP-smash into Ken Kay Stadium this weekend as the Ballarat Badminton Association serves a community come-and-try day.

On Saturday, 22 January from 10am to 2pm, community members of all ages are welcome to drop into the facility in Hollioake Park, Wendouree for the Association’s come-and-try day.

BBA’s Sandra David said people of all abilities can try badminton, pickleball and floor curling, with the assistance of volunteers.

“Pickleball and curling are reasonably new to Ballarat, so people have a chance to experience those without any commitment, have a try, and see if they like them,” she said.

“If one person comes along on their own, we’ll have someone available to have a hit or a go with them, or if a group comes along, we can organise a court for them to play all together.

“We’re trying to grow our membership and get a some more young people involved as well.”

Representatives of the association will be available to speak to those who enjoy the day and are interested in becoming more involved in all the year-round action at the stadium.

The association hosts social sessions and competitions weekly. All equipment can be supplied if needed.

“We’re all about celebrating and promoting indoor sport, being friendly, and providing an all-weather space to be active,” Ms David said.

“We have tournaments coming up, and are encouraging more people to get involved, and give them the chance to play a bit of competition if they want, or come along for social games.”
