Ballarat fully connected to NBN
CONSTRUCTION of the National Broadband Network across Ballarat is now complete.
Alfredton, Delacombe and Redan were the last to be switched on last week, now having access to fixed line and wireless broadband networks.
At an NBN node on Gilles Street – servicing 230 to 300 Alfredton premises – Head of NBN local Victoria and Tasmania, Ebony Aitken said the completion is brilliant news.
“Fast broadband is spurring growth in new businesses. It is projected to help contribute to the creation of up to 480 additional businesses by 2021,” she said.
A further 470 people in the region are expected to be working from home by 2021 as a result of NBN connectivity.
Currently over 58,000 homes and businesses throughout the region can access the NBN through their internet provider.
Ms Aitken hopes the network will help locals connect with their loved ones digitally over the festive season.
She encourages residents and businesses to check their usage and contact their preferred phone and internet provider to discuss the right plan for them.
