NOT-FOR-PROFIT organisation the Ballarat Society of Artists continued to celebrate their fortieth anniversary over the Easter long weekend.

Business secretary Sue Clarke said the creative community group held their art show for the 39th year at the Robert Clark Centre.

“The annual Easter exhibition highlighted the artworks of 34 members,” she said.

“Artwork varied in all sorts of mediums and supports, from a feather, to larger canvasses, watercolour, acrylics, oils pastels, printmaking and pen. They also had unframed art, cards, and merchandise for sale.

“The Botanical Gardens were abuzz with people and around 1500 visited the exhibition. It was wonderful to see young and old appreciating the art and the artists on duty had many conversations with them.”

Attendees voted in the Radmac Office Choice People’s Choice Award which painter Lyn Cooke won for her work, Victorian Lorikeets.

Cooke was also able to present local Joan McMillan with the raffle prize, another native bird painting named Close Encounter.

“Thank you to all who purchased tickets and continue to support local artists. The Society looks forward to further celebrating their 40th year throughout 2022,” Ms Clarke said.
