NOMINATIONS for the City of Ballarat Youth Awards are now being accepted.

Celebrating exceptional young people throughout the community and the value they bring to Ballarat, the awards have a particular focus on leadership, innovation, kindness, and commitment amongst 12 to 25-year-old residents, and their adult allies.

Award categories include challenge and change, youth volunteer, influential artist, compassion and care, young entrepreneur, Science Technology Engineering and Maths, positive leader, group project, leadership in sport, and adult ally volunteer and worker.

This year’s Awards process is supported by a team of four local, high-profile, positive ambassadors, including The Project and The Provincial Hotel’s Gorgi Coghlan, MasterChef’s Tim Bone, The Minority Co’s Indya Hayes, and the Ballaarat Mechanics’ Institute’s Sam McColl.

“There’s never been a more important time to acknowledge and support our youth,” Mrs Coghlan said.

“I’m proud to help promote the City of Ballarat Youth Awards and share the passion, leadership and resilience in our youth community, and how they continue to teach us about resilience and adaptiveness.”

Mr McColl is a past Youth Awards recipient.

“I understand first-hand how important it is to recognise the amazing work that young people do in the Ballarat community,” he said.

The Youth Awards will be presented at a ceremony in mid-August at the Wendouree Centre for Performing Arts.

Each person who is nominated for an award is invited to attend, and will be celebrated on the night, regardless of whether they win a gong or not.
