Bank backs kinder’s breakfasts

FOR the last six months, Buninyong Uniting Kindergarten staff have sought to ensure their little learners are fuelled for days of education and play.

The kinder offers a breakfast program and since the program launched in July of last year, Buninyong Uniting Kindergarten workers have served more than 1200 breakfasts, with Cheerios cereal proving popular amongst the kids.

With funding support from Community Bank Buninyong, the program is continuing into the new year.

“Breakfast presents many benefits including a homely connection, a predictable routine to help settle children, the opportunity to strengthen self-help skills, and social connection opportunities,” said Buninyong Uniting Kindergarten breakfast program lead Mel Dreger.

“For some children, it allowed them to feel fuller, which enhanced their focus and engagement in the kindergarten program.

“We are incredibly grateful Community Bank Buninyong has partnered with us in this worthwhile initiative.”

Bank branch manager Randall Dreger, and assistant manager Peita McNaught visited the kindergarten recently to award certificates to staff and pupils.

A statement from Community Bank Buninyong said staff didn’t hesitate when they were presented with the opportunity to support the program.

Based by the recreation precinct of the town, the kindergarten offers a free three and four-year-old integrated program.
