BDO keynotes revealed, tix on sale soon
IT’S time to get comfortable with being uncomfortable.
That’s one of the themes of this autumn’s Commerce Ballarat Business Day Out to be held at The Goods Shed on Wednesday, 31 May.
This view on comfort has become the mantra of young electrician Nedd Brockmann, famous for his record 46-day run from Perth to Bondi Beach in support of homeless organisation Mobilise, and he’s set to speak at the BDO.
Running about 80 kilometres per day during the 3953-kilometre challenge in 2022, Mr Brockmann’s effort raised $2.5 million.
“The board is really excited to host Nedd,” said Commerce Ballarat chair Hayley Coates. “He’ll have an exciting and different perspective about dealing with challenges, which is really relevant to most business owners.
“Getting comfortable with being uncomfortable is a no-brainer to continue in business, and essential.
“Getting through challenges and pivoting hasn’t gone away, and all business owners need to know things are constantly and rapidly going to be changing.”
Mr Brockmann will be joined by host Professor Gabriele Suder and Matt Nunn.
Ms Suder is the inaugural dean of Federation University’s New Business Accelerator offering, and a professor of international business specialising in regionalisation.
She’s an education and investment growth expert and has spent time with groups like the United Nations, World Trade Organisation, Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development, and Japan External Trade Organisation,
“Gabriele has just joined our board, with such a wealth of knowledge and experience,” Ms Coates said.
“As an academic, and in all the business things she’s been involved in, she is incredibly impressive, and we’re really looking forward to having her hosting Business Day Out and contributing to the board going forward.”
Mr Nunn is the founder and managing director of the country’s biggest independent media agency, Nunn Media, with a mission to encourage independent thinking, and to inspire people to unlock the growth potential of their clients.
“His professional skills and business acumen are at a very high level, and he is a local success story,” Ms Coates said.
Early bird tickets will be on sale from Wednesday, 15 February at commerceballarat.com.au.
