Big upgrades to tiny towns
SOME of the smallest communities within the Ripon electorate are set to receive funding as part of the State Government’s tiny towns initiative.
The first round of the program will see funding for 20 projects in Ripon including upgrades to halls and sporting facilities, with an aim of strengthening communities and encouraging visitation.
Some successful projects included $50,000 to upgrade Cardigan Village Reserve,
$8000 to refurbish the entry foyer at the Creswick Courthouse Theatre, more-than $18,000 for the Newlyn Recreation Reserve Playspace upgrade planning, and more-than $5000 for mosaic bollards at the Creswick Neighbourhood Centre.
Member for Ripon Martha Haylett said it is important to back smaller communities.
“Our smallest communities are full of the greatest people, and I am so pleased we are supporting them to thrive even more with this fantastic fund,” she said.
“From Marnoo to Creswick and everywhere in between, our Labor Government is backing our rural communities and the locals that call them home.”
The first round of the Tiny Towns initiative will fund 200 projects across the state in places with fewer than 5000 residents.
