Book sale to further funding goal
IF you’ve been looking for somewhere to take your used books, one of the region’s primary schools will have you covered next month.
Organised by the school’s parents and friends committee, a second-hand book sale is set to take place at Invermay Primary on Saturday 8 September.
Principal, Justin Marshman said the event will be a great way to bring the community together.
“This came from a suggestion from one of our families who had heaps of books they were going to donate and wondered if other families felt the same,” he said.
“It’s less of a fundraiser and more just a strong community initiative that’s been opened up to anyone that might have books they want to part with.
“Everyone’s welcome to come and have a purchase.”
Mr Marshman said he expects several hundred used books to be available through the sale with two families having already dropped off a pile of about 100 paperbacks each.
The items on sale will range from 50 cents to $2.
Proceeds from the sale will go towards the parents and friends committee and Mr Marshman said there’s the potential for it to be spent on the group’s current fundraising goal.
“The parents and friends, for our upcoming 150th, have been keen to have something out in our school grounds,” he said.
“We’re liaising for a beautiful archway and gate and this is something they’re fundraising for this year that the money from this book sale can go to. It’s certainly one thing they’ve been saving for.”
The sale will run from 2pm to 4pm.
