INTERCLUB’s Bookfest held earlier this month has been declared a success by organisers after the event raised more the one thousand, two-hundred dollars for the organisation.

The money was donated by Little Bookshop owner Wayne Compton who provided Interclub with a percentage of the sales revenue.

Mr Compton said it was important to give back to the community.

Along with Mr Compton’s contribution there was also a range of food vendors on site who donated their time.

Guest author Anthony Kearle took part in the event and promoted his novels Blood of the Eagle and Shadow of the Nightingale.

Fellow author Margaret Flavell was also there and talked with attendees about affirmation cards and readings.

The funds raised from this initiative will go towards Interclub’s services which include social, creative and entertainment opportunities for those with disabilities aged 16 and over.

Interclub coordinator Margie Iafrate said she was thankful for the contributions of the community which made the day such a success including Coles Sebastopol, Alfredton Lucas Lions Club, Coffee Will Travel van and Friends of InterClub.
