Labor pledges reserve refresh
BROWN Hill Recreation Reserve will get a freshen up worth one million dollars if a State Labor government is re-elected next month.
The green space currently has an oval, two rotundas, a playground and walking tracks, but would be redeveloped and revitalised for community use for generations to come.
Brown Hill Progress Association members, including Hazen Cleary, have worked with City of Ballarat staff to develop a reserve master plan together.
“The Brown Hill Progress Association is delighted with the announcement of $1 million to go towards the implementation of the Brown Hill Reserve redevelopment master plan,” Ms Cleary said.
“In 2021, the association began a conversation with the Brown Hill community, which lead to the initial concept for the reserve’s redevelopment.
“Council has used this as the basis for the reserve’s master plan. The funding will bring to life the community’s vision for a facility which will serve the community well into the future.”
Member for Buninyong, and the Labor candidate for the new seat of Eureka, Michaela Settle, said this State funding would help realise some exciting ideas.
“Families in Brown Hill deserve access to the best recreational and sport facilities,” she said.
“That’s why a re-elected Andrews Labor Government will invest $1 million towards redeveloping Brown Hill Recreation Reserve.”
