Bulk buy plan about clean cars
IF you’ve been considering making the change to an electric car, you can get all your questions answered locally at a free community event.
Ballarat Renewable Energy and Zero Emissions are hosting an electric vehicle bulk buy information afternoon at the Ballarat Neighbourhood Centre on Saturday, 6 May from 1pm to 4.30pm.
In partnership with the Good Car Co and Hepburn Energy, BREAZE will aim to inform attendees on what it’s like to own an EV, and offer viewings and test drives.
“Transport, around 20 per cent of total emissions, is the second largest source of greenhouse gas emissions in Australia and continues to grow due to our reliance on fossil fuelled vehicles,” said BREAZE’s event coordinator Campbell Mercer.
“Not only do electric vehicles significantly reduce our greenhouse gas emissions but they are also much less polluting and far cheaper to run, particularly for those with rooftop solar.”
The afternoon is being coordinated as part of the broader initiative which has been set up in the hopes of making buying an electric vehicle for the first time more affordable for regional people.
BREAZE will also aim to outline the environmental and financial advantages of a used EV bulk buy at the event.
Within the Hepburn Energy EV Bulk Buy program, the Nissan Leaf AZEO and ZE1s, and Peugeot E-Expert van are available for purchase, and the Polestar and Tesla Models 3 and Y are accessible via novated lease.
“To date, there haven’t been many options to purchase reasonably priced second-hand electric vehicles,” Mr Mercer said.
“This community EV bulk buy opportunity changes that and makes it much easier to get into the EV market.”
BREAZE president Dr Mary Debrett said the organisation is a part of the event to grow the Ballarat community’s awareness of these transport options which are cleaner than internal combustion engine cars.
“The bulk buy is also a way of expanding local options and helping those interested in making the shift to cleaner transport, to work out what will best suit their particular circumstances,” she said.
