THE committee behind Buninyong’s Pop-Up events are seeking local small businesses that would like to sell their wares at the Christmas pop-up shop.

To be held at the Buninyong Town Hall from Friday, 3 to Friday, 10 December, late-night shopping will run until 8pm on the first evening. The shop will be open from 10am to 4pm each day.

Committee member Sonya Sutcliffe said small businesses involved, from Buninyong and surrounds, will leave their products, and a team of COVID safe volunteers will sell them throughout the week.

“We want to showcase local talents and enterprises, so we’re seeking local makers to present products like jams and preserves, textile items, plants, artworks, cards, candles, and Christmas cakes,” Ms Sutcliffe said.

“We’ve been running the Christmas pop-up shop for five years and enjoy supporting small businesses and start-ups that are just launching.

“It’s also a terrific opportunity for parents to buy little Christmas gifts for teachers ahead of the last week of the school year.”

A portion of funds raised will be injected into the maintenance of the Buninyong Town Hall.

“There are some items needed in the Town Hall kitchen. It would be nice to have the kitchen fully equipped for all the community groups that use it,” she said.

“Our Town Hall is so central and historic. It’s great to showcase it during the Christmas pop-up Shop.”

An exhibition of timber Christmas trees will be set up within the pop-up. Community members can pay $25 ahead of the event to decorate a tree which will be part of the display.
